Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah recently attended the P&I Correspondents Conference organized by the International Group of P&I Clubs. The conference, held at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), brought together 338 participants from over 50 countries, covering all continents and major ports globally. This prestigious event aimed to exchange knowledge, experience, and views on the current situation and future of the shipping industry, a critical sector for global trade.The conference featured expert panelists from various prestigious organizations, including IG, IG Clubs, the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, Hong Kong Maritime Port Board, as well as scientists, engineers, global investment firms, and lawyers. Discussions covered a wide range of pertinent issues such as the digitalization of the shipping industry, new technologies like blockchain and AI, alternative fuels, and geopolitical issues related to increased sanctions. Additionally, preparedness for any supply chain disruptions caused by potential future black swan events and strategies for attracting and retaining talent in the industry were also key topics.Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah actively participated in the conference, contributing to discussions on the developments pertaining to the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network. He exchanged ideas on the best practices and strategies adopted locally to tackle maritime corruption, adding valuable insights to the conversations.The event provided a platform for participants to gain new perspectives and ideas, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges facing the global shipping industry.
